Setting up PVR IPTV Simple Client
The client is bundled but disabled by default:
- Open Kodi → Add-ons → My add-ons → PVR clients.
- Select PVR IPTV Simple Client and choose Enable.
- With it selected, choose Configure.
- Under General, set Location to Remote Path (Internet address).
- Paste your M3U playlist URL into the M3U play list URL field.
- Switch to the EPG Settings tab and paste your XMLTV EPG URL.
- Save, then restart Kodi.
That restart isn't optional — the PVR system only initialises properly on startup, and skipping it is the most common reason people think the setup failed. After restarting, a TV section appears on the home screen with your channels and guide.
After the restart, Kodi downloads and parses both your playlist and the guide data in the background. With a large channel list this genuinely takes a few minutes, and the TV section can look empty or half-populated while it works. Don’t start changing settings — make a cup of tea and check again. Getting the guide right
Kodi's guide is excellent once populated, but it depends on your channels matching the EPG data. If channels appear with no programme information, the tvg-id tags in your playlist don't line up with the IDs in the XMLTV file — a provider-side mismatch rather than anything you've configured wrongly.
